hey fellow french fries! i was going thru my stuff bought back from china yesterday and found this really kool book. in it is some really fantastic love stories. although it is in chinese, i have translated some of the ones i think is really good. heres one of them:

Love Geese

France’s geese liver is one of the most delicious foods in the whole world. But the process it takes to make this dish is extremely inhuman. Farmers firstly select a range of outstanding geese, and then use a special poison to forcefully feed them everyday. The liver of these geese grow unhealthily day by day, and then the farmers kill them just for the liver, because their body is now uselessly poisoned and the meat on it tastes sour.

Most people think this is an outrageous act. But if you’re not the geese yourself, would you know how they feel? This might be a touching story of love……

Everyday, the farmer’s little daughter is in charge of feeding the goose. She has hair of sunshine gold and eyes as green as the lake’s water. Her cheeks are silky white with little blush spots like the spring roses. A goose fell in love with her as soon as he saw her. But, he knows that after the first spoonful of poison, his liver will grow alarmingly day by day and he will feel more pain day by day. However, for love, he still drinks with a smile.

He longs everyday for her appearance, in her arms, drinking that dreaded poison has become an enjoyment. His liver grew and he endured unbelievable pain. But every time she appears he is still that brave goose that drinks the poison for his love.

The day has come when he has met the standard to be killed. When she appeared again, he knew that this will be the last time he will ever see her and drink from her hands.

Goose smiles and drinks the last drops of poison; he spreads his wings and dances his last dance for her on the lake. She cannot bear it as well, so covers her face and runs away……

The coming day, when the liver of that goose has been delivered onto a table, the people who ate it finally realized; love, is drinking poison with a smile……
